About

The Louisiana ArboVirus Surveillance Tracking System (LASTS) is a web based database system used by several Louisiana State organizations for both tracking field surveillance and recording lab test results of five major arboviruses:

  • West Nile Virus (WNV)
  • St. Louis Encephalitis (SLE)
  • Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE)
  • Chikungunya (CHIKV)
  • Zika Virus (ZIKA)

Note: Arbovirus is a term used to refer to a group of viruses that are transmitted by arthropod vectors. The word arbovirus is an acronym (ARthropod-BOrne viruses)

These arboviruses can be found, and are tracked, in the following types of organisms:

  • Chicken
  • Mosquito
  • Wild Birds

The Louisiana Mosquito Control Association (LMCA) has funded the development of this web site.
